Residential and Administrative Staff
  • Mary Lu Adams is a third-year RA for GHA.  Though she didn't attend GHA as a student, she was a student at GSA in 2003 in the vocal music concentration.  She received a degree in psychology from Bethany College in 2009 and is currently a student at the University of Pittsburgh earning her masters in Higher Education Management.
  • Robbie Brown is from Charles Town, WV and is an assistant principal at Washington High School in Jefferson County.  He is a GHA alum, and this will be his twelfth summer working for the Academy.  At his school he is the boys tennis coach and enjoys being the human resources point person.  Robbie received his undergraduate degree from the University of Miami, FL and loves to support the Hurricanes athletics programs. 
  • Saralyn Dague
  • John Fredeking is a senior at Marshall University majoring in Speech Pathology. He attended GSA in 2005, where he studied voice; he also attended GHA in 2006.  This is his second year as an RA at the academy.  John just got back from a 12-day trip out west where he and his parents traveled through 16 states and saw the world's only Corn Palace and visited Santa Claus, IN.
  • Nikki Garcia recently graduated from Wake Forest University with degrees in Health and Exercise Science and Chemistry.  In the fall, she will attend The George Washington University School of Public Health and Health Services for Master of Public Health.  Nikki attended GSMS in 2001, GSA in 2004, and GHA in 2005.  This is her first year on staff at GHA, and she hopes to use some of her time here to train for her first 5K run.
  • Holly Jackson is a senior at Concord University and is double majoring in mathematics education and art education, and she is minoring in math, art, and geography.  She plans to pursue a doctorate degree in education or math and teach at a university.
  • Thomas Knotts teaches biology at Ritchie County High School. He is obtaining an MA in Curriculum and Instruction from Colorado Christian University. This is his fifth year as resident director and his ninth overall year involved with the Academy. He is married to an amazing woman named Janie.  They have just bought a house and are beginning to realize that houses really are money pits. 
  • Sean McCants is a senior theater major at the College of Charleston specializing in theater for young audiences. He teaches inner city elementary students social and emotional skills five times a a week.  This is his second year working for the Academy. 
  • Holly McGuire is a Business Management major at Fairmont State University, and on her first day at college, she slipped and broke her ankle.  She attended GHA in 2007, and this is her first year as an RA at GHA.
  • Oliva Novotny is a senior at WVU studying Exercise Physiology. She attended GHA in 2006 as a student and worked as an RA last summer.  She loves muscles and will probably tell you more about them than you care to know. 
  • Lauren Oyler is a junior English major at Yale University.  She attended GSA 2006 in the painting concentration and worked as the GHA 2007 representative, but this is her first year working as the GHA intern.  This spring, she produced and exhibited her first art show, entitled "Clever Disguise: Portraiture as Commentary." 
  • J.C. Phares is currently enrolled at Marshall University in the Masters of Arts in Teaching program.  This is his first year with GHA.  During the school year, J.C. works as a Resident Director on Marshall's campus.
  • Krystal Robinson is a graduate of Bethany College with a degree in Music and Education.  This is her third year working for the academy and will be married at Bethany next May. 
  • Steven Robison is a junior at West Virginia University, where he is majoring in International Studies and French.  Steven attended GHA in 2007; this is his first year returning as an RA. After GHA, he will be studying Arabic in Morocco for a year. 
  • Emma Rucker graduated from Tyler Consolidated High School. She is currently a junior at Kent State University where she is majoring in fine arts and minoring in psychology.  When the weather is nice, she enjoys riding her Ninja 250 motorcycle.
  • Drew Scheifelbein is a graduate of Fairmont State University.  He just completed his first year as a Reading Interventionist in his home county of Barbour.  This is his fourth year working with the Academy.  In his career as a bowling enthusiast, he has bowled one perfect 300 game. 
  • Ryan Tempalski was born in Pittsburgh and graduated from Bethany College in 2008 with a degree in Accounting. This is his second year associated with GHA.  He has coached varsity football for the past four seasons.  
  • Josh Wentz  is currently enrolled at Bethany College with a double major in Forensic Chemistry and Equine Management with a minor in math.  This is his first year working at the Academy.  This fall, he will be applying to compete on the 23rd season of Survivor.
